The Northland Trails & Greenways organization has created an exciting vision for improving the quality of life in the northland. Here's an opportunity to discover our communities as you have never seen them  before. 

Clay and Platte counties encompass the northern sections of Kansas City west to Weston, and east to Excelsior Springs on Missouri's western border.

Yes.  Clay County and Platte County, with the help and input from  numerous citizens have designed a comprehensive trail system for the Northland. The system includes on-road bicycle facilities and off-road trails for a variety of users. The trail system is intended to respond to broad and diverse community desires for increased opportunities for safe non-motorized travel and recreation. Yes! The Smithville Lake Horse and Hiking Trail offers 26 miles of scenic trail that follows the Smithville Lake shoreline, and runs through many miles of native grasses and timberland.
