Dave Thompson purchased 20 bags of concrete.  He delivered 10 bags to the twin pipes between W and X, and 10 bags to the pipe crossing on the Boundary Trail near K.  Dave used his loader to deliver the bags to the work locations.

On a wickedly hot, and humid day, Access 24 to Access 23 was mowed, and trimmed by dedicated volunteers. Dave trailered his Bobcat UTV and NTG’s pull behind mower to Access 24.  He was met by volunteers, John and Sue.  Dave mowed trail, while Sue trimmed upper branches from the back of the UTV, and John cut lower branches on foot and pulled them from the trail.  John proved himself to be an excellent worker, as he used his chainsaw to cut trees that were blocking the trail. Dave proved himself to be a genius in tough situations.  When his Bobcat got hopelessly stuck in a wet creek crossing, he calmly hooked up the winch, attached to the front of the Bobcat, and pulled the UTV out.  A big hole was found in the middle of the Boundary Trail creek crossing near Access 23.  The hole was about two feet deep along the edge of the metal  pipe.  John cleared debris from the front of the pipe.  Then Dave and John filled the hole with dirt dug from the area.  The headwall held up well, but it was determined that additional bags of concrete would be needed along the west edge of the pipe.  The volunteers survived 3 miles of  trail clearing with only tick bites and minor scratches.

The day was too wet to schedule a trail work day.  Instead, I performed a trail inspection.  Access 31 has new posts surrounding the parking area, and new rock.  Access 20 also has new rock.  The water was 1 ½ feet deep in the Shoreline Trail creek crossing south of the access, but appeared to be solid and holding well.  The Boundary Trail bog had about a foot of water, and was really soft.  The trailhead sign to Access 31 was shot up. At Access 21, the trailhead sign to Access 22 was shot up. At Access 23, the trailhead entrances were boggy and in need of rock.  The trailhead sign to Access 24 was shot up.  At Access 24, there was new rock in the parking area, but trail entrances were boggy and in need of a little rock.  The trailhead sign to JRB was shot up.  At Jack Rabbit Bend, there were no maps.
